“Carrie”: Movie Review *Spoiler Alert*

By: Daniele Grutzner Staff Reporter

As I went into the Movie Theater with my giant drink and bag of popcorn, I excitedly sat down, watching the advertisements flash by on the big screen, waiting for the ten o’clock premiere to start. In no time the lights in the house went down and the movie started. My eyes lit up as the movie title flashed across the screen in big, bloody letters: ‘CARRIE’. After about an hour and a half of bloody images, dry humor, and a twisted story line, I was left riveted by what I had just seen. I can certainly say that Carrie is well worth watching.

Howl-O-Scream 2013 Review

By: Kylie Adams      Staff Reporter

Howl-O-Scream- a much anticipated autumn event for Florida residents and tourists around the country- celebrHowl-O-Screamates its 13th year this Halloween. With ‘13’ being the famous dreaded unlucky number, the theme is centered around thirteen different evils that roam the park and raise the hair on the back of your neck. The thirteen characters go as follows:

  • #1 The Possessed- I only saw one of these actors throughout the entire park, though talented, the actress/contortionist was too busy being creepy and doing her own thing to actually bother sneaking up and scaring guests.
  • #2 The Torturer- With an entire ‘scare zone’ dedicated to this character, it was frightening beyond compare. The realistic weaponry and torture instruments assured me that my choice of running and screaming was the right one.
  • #3 The Hunter- I would like to go ahead and state that I was personally victimized by the hunter and he is absolutely terrifying. Though there were only a few of these actors, the real weaponry (without ammo) proved as frightening enough for me. (more…)
